Biometric and Sensitive Data Retention Policy

What we collect

Ghana Card/NIA verification data — your full name, date of birth, card number, and a digital face template used for later matching — and, if you use the physical Signing Room, a wide-angle photo capturing you and both witnesses together at the moment of signing.

Legal basis

We collect this with your consent, given at the identity verification step, under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). MeWill is required to register as a data controller with Ghana's Data Protection Commission before processing any of this data — a standalone compliance requirement, separate from everything else on this page.

Retention periods

NIA identity data

Retained for the life of your account, plus a minimum of 12 years after account closure or confirmed death — Ghanaian probate and estate disputes can surface years after execution, and this data may be needed as evidence.

Signing Room photo

Retained permanently as part of your will's evidentiary record. Its entire purpose is to be available years later if your will is ever contested.

Face-match template

Retained only as long as your account is active — its only use is verifying you at future sessions, not as long-term evidence.
